On Tuesday, September 27, Stéphane Hessel, 93-year old Resistance hero and author of the worldwide phenomenon, Time for Outrage: Indignez-vous!, addressed a standing-room only audience of nearly 300 at Columbia University, in an event sponsored by the Columbia Maison Française.

Claude Lanzmann and Charlie Rose at the Maison Française Print E-mail

On Tuesday, March 20, Claude Lanzmann was interviewed by Charlie Rose at Columbia University in an event hosted by the Maison Française. In front of an audience of 300, Charlie Rose posed questions to the 86-year-old Resistance fighter, director of Shoah and author of the bestselling memoir, The Patagonian Hare (recently translated into English and published by Farrar, Straus and Giroux). Lanzmann described, with humor and poignancy, his experiences during World War II, his seven-year affair with Simone de Beauvoir and the making of his masterpiece, the nine-and-a half-hour documentary on the Holocaust, Shoah.

NEW YORK—In support of the U.S. publication of his #1 international bestselling book TIME FOR OUTRAGE: Indignez-vous!, 93-year-old French Resistance hero Stéphane Hessel will be appearing at the Maison Française of Columbia University on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at 6 pm. This is his only public appearance in the U.S. around this book. The event is “A Conversation with Stéphane Hessel” with guest moderator Nikil Saval of n+1 magazine and is free and open to the public.
